Quinn Marsh writes noir-inflected fantasy: the kind of story where nobody gets a clean ending, because nobody ever really does. She's a longtime fan of noir film and the moral grays it trades in. Her debut novel began the old-fashioned way: in an old notebook she found lying around the house. With her beloved gel pen in hand, she filled nearly two more before it ever touched a laptop. From there came round after round of revision — on-screen, then printed and marked up in red — plus developmental edits that pushed the book further than she ever expected to take it.Like her characters, she's learned that nothing worth finishing comes out clean the first time.When she's not writing, she's usually got a drink in hand, cooking something that's more of a challenge than dinner really needed to be, or yelling at the TV during a baseball game. She's just as likely to be treating herself to a pedicure, or pushing her luck at the casino.
